« CITIZENSHIP ACADEMY »
Citizenship Academy is a project that meets an urgent need for building a democratic society in the Arab Spring countries. It started in Tunisia and hopefully will be expanded through the MENA Region. The Academy has educational and didactic aims as it will raise awareness about issues like citizenship, elections procedures, transparency, corruption, openGov, women empowerment and Human Rights. We will achieve our goals through this online platform and through extensive courses and workshops, field trips and grass roots advocacy.
As an initial stage, The Academy’s students, aged between 18 to 35 were selected from Gabes. The participants will be involved in a 8 month-project starting from the pre, while and after the Academy. They will be subscribed to the online forum we will be launching to kick off the interactions about the workshops’ topics and the advocacy campaign’s main guidelines. These participants along with other willing volunteers and through their social and associative networks will be the main actors of the advocacy campaign the Academy’s network will launch after the trainings.
